About the BSE 250 LargeMidCap Index
The BSE 250 LargeMidCap Index tracks the 250 companies that make up the BSE 100 LargeCap TMC and the BSE 150 MidCap together. It is maintained by BSE Index Services and weighted by float-adjusted market capitalisation.
How companies are chosen
The index is built from the BSE 500. All constituents of the BSE 100 LargeCap TMC and the BSE 150 MidCap together form it, so it has no separate selection test of its own.
Differential voting rights shares (DVRs), a second share class with different voting rights, can be included, so the stock count may pass 250. The number of companies stays fixed at 250.
How it is weighted
Constituents are weighted by float-adjusted market capitalisation: the market value of the shares available to trade.
When it is reviewed
The index is rebalanced twice a year, effective at market open on the Monday after the third Friday of Jun and Dec, using data to the last trading day of Apr and Oct.
Base date and value
The index was launched on 30 Nov 2017. Its first value date is 16 Sep 2005.
