How the results calendar works

The BSE and NSE results calendar lists the dates on which listed companies announce quarterly financial results. Each board meets to approve the figures and announces the date in advance, so the calendar shows who reports on which day.

Reporting deadlines

SEBI's listing rules require a company to publish quarterly results within 45 days of the quarter's end. For the quarter to Sep, that is 14 Nov. The quarter to Mar, the last of the financial year, gets 60 days, because it comes with audited annual results.

How dates become known

A company must tell the exchanges the date of the board meeting that will take up results at least two working days ahead. Until May 2024 the notice period was five days.

A company can move the meeting, so a listed date can change until the results are filed.

What happens on the day

The board approves the results at its meeting, and the company must send the outcome to the exchanges within 30 minutes of the meeting ending, or within three hours when it ends after market hours. A dividend, buyback, split or fund raising decided at the same meeting appears as a tag.

What the page lists

The page lists companies on BSE and NSE with a results date from today onward, under Coming up, and those that reported in the last week, under Past week. Dates are grouped by day, soonest first, and the largest company by market cap comes first within each day.

Each row shows the period reported, any tag, the price with its day change, and market cap in crore. A market cap filter narrows the list by size. A row marked Due has not yet filed.

Companies label quarters Q1 to Q4 within their financial year. For a year ending in Mar, the quarter to Sep is Q2 and the quarter to Dec is Q3.

Peak weeks

Larger companies tend to report in the first weeks after a quarter ends; many smaller companies report in the last days before the 45-day deadline. Later dates fill in only as notices arrive, two working days ahead, so the far end of the calendar starts thin.

Each date is the day a company's board of directors meets to approve its results. A company listed on BSE or NSE must tell the exchange at least two working days before that meeting, and file the approved results within 30 minutes of the meeting ending, so the calendar fills in as companies announce their dates. It covers every listed company that has announced a results meeting, including companies listed only on BSE and those on the SME platforms, which report every half year; a company listed on both exchanges appears once. Results out means the company has filed the results that meeting approved, and its name opens them; Due means the meeting is on that day or later.

Does the results calendar cover both BSE and NSE?

Yes. It lists every company that has told either exchange the date of its results meeting, including companies listed only on BSE. A company listed on both exchanges appears once, on the day its board meets.

When do listed companies announce their quarterly results?

Within 45 days of the quarter's end. The last quarter of the year is the exception: its results come with the year's audited results, within 60 days of the year's end. A company listed on an SME platform files half-yearly results instead of quarterly ones.

How do I find a company's results date in advance?

A company must tell the exchange at least two working days before the board meeting that will approve its results, not counting the day it tells and the day of the meeting. This calendar lists every such notice by the day of the meeting, so the days further ahead fill in as more companies announce theirs.

At what time are results announced?

The board approves the results at its meeting, and the company must file them with the exchange within 30 minutes of the meeting ending. Once they are filed, the company is marked Results out here and its name opens its results.

What are Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 results?

The quarter's number within the company's financial year. For a year ending in March, which almost every Indian company uses, Q1 is the quarter to June, Q2 the quarter to September, Q3 the quarter to December and Q4 the quarter to March. This site names each quarter by the month it ends, so the period reads the same whatever a company's year.

What is the difference between audited and unaudited results?

Quarterly results are usually unaudited: the company's auditor checks them in a limited review, which is narrower than an audit. The results for the full year are audited.

What is the trading window before results?

The period in which a company's directors and the employees who see its results before they are public may not trade its shares. It closes at the end of each quarter and opens again 48 hours after the results are made public.

What else can a board decide at its results meeting?

The board can take up other business at the same meeting: an interim dividend, a bonus issue, a share split, a buyback, raising funds or a scheme of arrangement such as a merger. The calendar tags each one the company named in its notice of the meeting.
