About 52-week lows

52 week low stocks are shares that traded below their lowest price of the past year, about 250 trading days, in the latest session on NSE or BSE. This page lists them after each session with the closing price, the 52-week low, the distance below the 52-week high, market cap and one-year return.

The 52-week low

The 52-week low is the lowest price a share has traded at in the past 52 weeks, counted here as about 250 trading days. A share sets a new low when it trades below that level at any time in the session, even if it closes above it.

How this page builds the list

The range is worked out once a day, after the session closes, so the list reflects the latest full session and does not change while the market is open. Prices are adjusted for splits and bonus issues, so these do not register as falls. Every company listed on NSE or BSE is counted once, using NSE prices where NSE lists it and BSE prices where only BSE does.

Which companies are shown

Companies with a market cap below ₹100 crore are left out, and the rest run from the largest down. The large, mid and small cap tabs follow the classification mutual funds use, revised twice a year: companies ranked by average market cap over six months, the top 100 large, the next 150 mid and the rest small. The one-year return is blank for shares with under a year of trading.

Reading the columns

Below 52W high is how far the closing price sits under the highest price of the same year. Market cap is the share price multiplied by the number of shares, in ₹ crore. A sector breakdown below the table counts how many shares in each sector rose and fell on the day.

What a new low does and does not show

A 52-week low records only that the price is at the bottom of its one-year range. It says nothing about the reason, which may be a weak result, a sector-wide fall, a market-wide fall or a one-off event.

What is a 52-week low?

The lowest price a share has traded at in the last 52 weeks, about 250 trading days. A share makes a new one when it trades below that level. The prices are adjusted for splits and bonus issues, so a split does not read as a fall.

Why is the list only updated after the close?

The 52-week range is worked out once a day, after the session closes, so the list is of the latest full trading day and does not change while the market is open.

Does the list include BSE shares?

Yes. Every company listed on NSE or BSE is counted once, on its NSE prices where NSE lists it and on its BSE prices where only BSE does.

Which shares on the list are in the Nifty 50?

A share in the Nifty 50 or the Nifty Next 50 carries the index's name in its row, after its symbol and industry, from the index's latest list of companies. Each index's own page lists all its companies.

What are large, mid and small cap companies?

The classification every mutual fund uses: listed companies ranked by their average market cap over six months, the first 100 large cap, the next 150 mid cap and the rest small cap. The list is revised every January and July.
