About Vishal Mega Mart

Vishal Mega Mart Limited is a retailer that sells clothing, general merchandise and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG: everyday food, personal care and household care products) to middle-income households in India.12 It sells through its own stores across the country, a mobile app and a website.3

The listed company sources goods through contract manufacturing and sells them wholesale to its wholly owned subsidiary Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Limited, which buys its branded products exclusively under a franchise agreement and runs the retail business.456 Clothing covers men's, women's, children's and infants' wear; general merchandise covers home appliances, crockery and utensils, furnishings, toys, stationery, travel accessories and footwear, under its own and third-party brands.2 Goods move from a central distribution centre to regional distribution centres placed near the main markets.7 The group had 21,913 permanent employees at the end of March 2026.6

It was incorporated on 26 Mar 2018 and its shares were listed on the NSE and BSE on 18 Dec 2024.4

Its promoter, Samayat Services LLP, held 40.12% of the shares at the end of March 2026, against 74.55% a year earlier, after share sales in June 2025 and February 2026 took its holding below 50%.89 Kedaara Capital Fund II LLP is among the entities that control the group.10 Shareholders were asked at the annual general meeting of 18 Sep 2026 to cap foreign ownership at 49.99%, which the company said keeps it Indian-owned and controlled, as its subsidiary's multi-brand retail business requires; the documents give no outcome.111213
