Upcoming dividends are the cash payouts that listed companies have announced and that have not yet gone ex-dividend. This page lists them by ex-date and record date, with the amount per share, the dividend type and the yield on the last close.
The record date is the day the company checks its register of shareholders to see who gets the dividend. The ex-date is the first trading day on which a share is sold without the announced dividend. Since India moved to next-day settlement (T+1), the two fall on the same day for most listed shares, so a buyer must purchase at least one trading day before the ex-date to receive the payout.
Dividends are sorted soonest first, and within a day the largest company comes first. Yield is the amount per share divided by the last close, as a percentage. A dividend with a record date but no amount is one whose amount the board has yet to set; the meeting that sets it is named. A second table lists board meetings that will take up a dividend, since a dividend and its size are known only once the board has met. Dividends that went ex in the last 30 days follow.
An interim dividend is declared by the board during the year. A final dividend is proposed by the board and takes effect once shareholders approve it at the annual general meeting, held within six months of the year end. Shareholders can approve or reduce the amount, but cannot raise it.
A company must pay a declared dividend, or send the warrant, within 30 days of declaring it. It goes to the bank account linked to the shareholder's demat account, so the ex-date is not the payment date.
Dividends are added to the shareholder's income and taxed at the income tax slab rate. The yield shown is before tax.
A company announces a dividend with two dates. The ex-date is the first day the share trades without it: buy before then and the dividend is yours, buy on or after it and it stays with the seller. The record date is the day the company reads its register of shareholders to see who is paid. Since shares settle the next working day, the two are usually the same day. The money reaches your bank account within 30 days of the dividend being declared.
The first trading day on which a share is sold without its announced dividend. To receive the dividend you must buy the share before the ex-date, by the close of the trading day before it. Selling on or after the ex-date still leaves the dividend with you.
The date on which the company checks its register of shareholders. Everyone on it receives the dividend. Shares in India settle the next working day, so a buyer is on the register a day after buying, which is why the ex-date and the record date are now usually the same day.
Within 30 days of the dividend being declared: at the annual general meeting for a final dividend, at the board meeting for an interim one. It is paid to the bank account linked to your demat account.
An interim dividend is declared by the board during the year. A final dividend is proposed by the board after the year's accounts and declared by shareholders at the annual general meeting. A special dividend is a one-off payment, usually from a gain or surplus cash, and says nothing about the next year's dividend.
Most final dividends come between April and September. For a year ending in March, the board proposes the final dividend with the year's results, due by the end of May, and shareholders declare it at the annual general meeting, which must be held by the end of September. Interim dividends come at board meetings through the year, often with the quarterly results.
A buyer on the ex-date no longer receives the dividend, so the share usually opens lower by about the amount of the dividend. The holder who owned it the day before has the same value, part in the share and part in the dividend to come.
Yes. A dividend is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. The company deducts tax at 10% before paying it when your dividends from that company in the year come to more than ₹10,000.
The company has fixed the record date but its board has not yet set the amount. The board meeting that will set it is named on the dividend; the amount appears once the company announces it.
