About bulk and block deals
Bulk and block deals today lists the large trades in shares reported on NSE and BSE for the latest trading day. A bulk deal is one buyer's or seller's day total of more than half a per cent of a company's listed shares. A block deal is a single large trade in a separate window.
Bulk deal
A bulk deal is counted per client, per company, per day. Trades in the normal market add up, and once the day's bought or sold quantity is more than 0.5% of the company's listed shares, it is reported.
Each line shows the quantity as a share of the company's listed shares.
Block deal
A block deal is one trade between a buyer and a seller, executed in a separate block window and not in the regular order book. The window keeps a large holding from moving the price. Since Dec 2025, SEBI's rules require a minimum order size of ₹25 crore, raised from ₹10 crore.
There are two windows. The morning window runs from 8:45 am to 9:00 am at a price within 3% of the previous day's close. The afternoon window runs from 2:05 pm to 2:20 pm, within 3% of the volume weighted average price (the average price weighted by shares traded) of 1:45 pm to 2:00 pm. Every block deal must end in delivery, with no reversal.
Disclosure
The broker reports a bulk deal to the exchange as soon as it is executed, and the exchange publishes it after the market closes with the company, client, quantity and price. This page shows one trading day and counts a block deal as one trade.
Net buyers and sellers
Net buyers and sellers are ranked by value bought less value sold. A line tagged Both ways means the client bought and sold that company on the day. The smaller of the two values is counted as sold back the same day, and the rest of the bought value as kept.
Reading client names
Names are shown as the exchange published them, so one fund or trader can appear under different spellings. The list shows who traded and how much, not why.

A block deal is a single large trade above a minimum size SEBI sets, struck between one buyer and one seller in the exchange's separate block window. Both are published the same evening, with the buyer and the seller named.
Is a block deal legal?
Yes. The block window exists so that a large holding can change hands in one trade without moving the price in the normal market; the trade is reported to the exchange and published with both names.
