About Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) is an integrated transport company that runs sea ports on India's west, south and east coasts and links them to customers by rail, road, warehousing and marine services.12 Outside India it runs ports in Australia, Sri Lanka, Israel and Tanzania.3

Its ports handle bulk, container and multipurpose cargo, and at Mundra in Gujarat it runs a port-based industrial hub with a special economic zone (SEZ, an area with its own customs and tax rules).31 Its logistics business combines its own logistics parks, rail rakes (trains), trucks, warehouses and grain silos with asset-light trucking (using trucks it does not own) and international freight services.4 Its marine business provides towage (tugs that move ships in port), pilotage (guiding ships in) and offshore support through Ocean Sparkle in India and Astro Offshore and TAHID abroad, and it dredges for port construction.5

It was incorporated on 26 May 1998.6 In 2024 it bought 95% of Gopalpur Ports and 80% of the Astro Offshore marine group, and took over the concession (the right to run it for a set period) for a container terminal at Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.78 In December 2025 it completed the purchase of North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT), a coal export terminal in Australia, issuing new shares as part of the price.9108 Its promoter, Gautam S. Adani, founder and chairman of the Adani Group, is its non-executive chairman.611 The Adani family held 66.03% of the company at the end of June 2026.12

Today, against the company's own history. Not shown, P/E: a results filing in the last twelve months restated the quarters before it inside its year to date, so the four quarters as the company reported them do not add to a twelve-month profit; the ratio returns once the trailing year no longer holds a quarter from before the restatement. Return is price growth plus the average dividend yield. Change in P/E is (1 + price growth) / (1 + earnings growth) - 1, so the parts compound rather than add. Earnings growth over 1, 3 and 5 years is on profit divided by shares in issue at both ends: the earnings per share stated for one end does not match that year's profit and share count. Earnings growth over 3 years includes one-off items (exceptional items and the result of businesses sold or closed) of more than a tenth of the profit of the year to Mar 2023.
