About the Nifty 200
The Nifty 200 is an index of 200 large and mid market capitalization companies, maintained by NSE Indices Limited. It includes all companies in the Nifty 100 and the Nifty Midcap 100.
How companies are chosen
Any inclusion or exclusion in the Nifty 100 or the Nifty Midcap 100 is carried out in the Nifty 200.
The Nifty 100 is the top 100 companies by full market capitalisation from the Nifty 500. The Nifty Midcap 100 includes all companies from the Nifty Midcap 50, and its remaining companies are selected on average daily turnover from the Nifty Midcap 150.
How it is weighted
The index is computed on free float market capitalization: its level reflects the total free float market value of all the stocks in the index relative to a base period. Free float is floating stock that is normally expected to be available for trading in the market, which the index counts through an investible weight factor.
When it is reviewed
The index is reviewed every six months together with the Nifty 100 and the Nifty Midcap 100, on data to 31 Jan and 31 Jul.
Base date and value
The Nifty 200 was launched on 19 Jul 2011. Its base date is 1 Jan 2004 and its base value is 1000.
