About the Nifty India Infrastructure & Logistics
The Nifty India Infrastructure & Logistics Index tracks up to 100 companies from the Nifty 500 that represent the infrastructure and logistics theme. It is maintained by NSE Indices Limited.
How companies are chosen
Only stocks in the Nifty 500 at the time of a review are eligible, and only those from the basic industries the index accepts. These include airlines, airports, ports, road assets (toll, annuity and hybrid-annuity), railways and railway wagons, logistics solution providers, power generation, transmission and distribution, cement and cement products, and telecom services.
The index takes the largest 100 stocks from those industries, ranked by 6-month average free-float market capitalization (the market value of the shares available for trading). A company outside the index is included only if its free-float market capitalization is at least 1.5 times that of the smallest constituent.
How it is weighted
Each stock is weighted by its free-float market capitalization. No stock may exceed 5% at rebalancing, and the stocks of any one industry together may not exceed 20%. Between rebalances a weight can drift above the cap as prices move.
When it is reviewed
The index is reconstituted semi-annually, with changes effective from Mar and Sep, using data for the six months ending Jan and Jul. It is rebalanced quarterly: capping factors are realigned effective from the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec.
Base date and value
The index has a base date of 1 Apr 2005 and a base value of 1000. It was launched on 3 Jun 2025. A total returns variant, the Nifty India Infrastructure & Logistics Total Returns Index, is also calculated.
