About Motherson Sumi Wiring India

Motherson Sumi Wiring India Limited makes wiring harnesses and their components. It sells them to automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), the companies that build vehicles. Its customers make passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, electric vehicles and related mobility solutions. The company works with customers from the product design stage through to full-scale production.

Its product range covers low-voltage and high-voltage wiring harnesses, supplied for internal combustion engine, electric, hybrid and CNG vehicle platforms, so it supplies across engine types rather than to one powertrain. Passenger vehicles form the largest share of its business, complemented by other vehicle segments. The company reports one business activity, the manufacture of motor vehicle electrical equipment.

The company operates 30 facilities across India, serving 16 states and 3 Union Territories. These include manufacturing plants and assembly centres. It has scaled its footprint across India with manufacturing facilities located near customer operations. More than 63,000 people work for it. It focuses on the domestic market, and its exports are negligible.

It was incorporated in 2020 as a result of the demerger of the domestic wiring harness business of Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (SAMIL). Its shares are listed on the BSE and NSE. It operates as a joint venture between SAMIL and Sumitomo Wiring Systems Limited (SWS), and both are shareholders in the company. It is part of the Motherson group.

Written from the annual report for the year to Mar 2026, filed 6 Jul 2026 and the investor presentation.
