About Prime Focus

Prime Focus Limited provides visual effects (VFX), animation and related creative services to the film and television industry. It also builds artificial intelligence software for enterprise audio and video content. It was incorporated in 1997, and its registered office is in Khar, Mumbai.

The business is organised in three parts. Creative services supplies VFX, animation, stereo (the conversion of 2D content into 3D) and line production services for feature films and episodic series. Brahma AI is an AI-native operating system for enterprise content. Its products include "Vaani", a voice AI tool, and digital asset management, and it serves media and entertainment firms. Prime Focus Studios is a production studio that develops intellectual property and produces feature and episodic titles.

The company has more than 10,200 employees across 24 locations. Its VFX work is delivered under the DNEG brand, and a large India-based workforce lets it provide services worldwide.

Prime Focus listed on the Indian stock exchanges and later merged with Double Negative to form DNEG. It also backed the creation of Brahma AI, which acquired Metaphysic, a creator of photoreal AI-generated content for film, television and branded content.

The company's promoters are Namit Malhotra and Naresh Malhotra. A promoter is the person or group that set up a company or controls it. Namit Malhotra is the founder of the Prime Focus group.

Yearly rates to Mar 2026, per-share figures restated for splits and bonuses.

1 year+262.8%––0.0%
3 years+61.0%−16.9%+93.8%0.0%
5 years+41.9%––0.0%
Return is price growth plus the average dividend yield. Change in P/E is (1 + price growth) / (1 + earnings growth) - 1, so the parts compound rather than add. Earnings growth and the change in P/E are left empty where earnings per share at either end of the window was a loss or is not on record. Earnings growth over 1, 3 and 5 years is on profit divided by shares in issue at both ends: the earnings per share stated for one end does not match that year's profit and share count. Earnings growth over 3 years includes one-off items (exceptional items and the result of businesses sold or closed) of more than a tenth of the profit of the years to Mar 2023 and Mar 2026.
