About the BSE TECK
BSE TECK is an index of the BSE 500 companies in media, entertainment and publication, information technology and telecommunication, maintained by BSE Index Services Pvt. Ltd. It was launched on 11 Jul 2001.
How companies are chosen
Float-adjusted market capitalization is the value of the shares available to trade. Stocks are taken in order of average float-adjusted market capitalization rank until they reach at least 90% of the average float-adjusted market capitalization in each sector.
The index aims for at least 10 companies per sector. Where fewer than 10 are eligible, the 90% coverage still applies. A company must have traded on at least 90% of days in the preceding six months.
A buffer of 2% applies to both inclusion and exclusion, to limit turnover: a non-member is added only if it falls within 88% coverage, and a member is dropped only if it falls above 92% coverage.
How it is weighted
Constituents are weighted by float-adjusted market capitalization.
When it is reviewed
The index is rebalanced semiannually, in Jun and Dec.
Base date and value
The first index value date is 31 Jan 2000.
