About Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund schemes

Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund is the mutual fund of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited, a listed financial services group. Its schemes are run by Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company Limited and overseen by a trustee company. They span equity, hybrid and debt funds, and a large range of index funds, ETFs and funds of funds.

Sponsor, trustee and AMC

Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited is the sponsor, the company that sets up the fund. Motilal Oswal Trustee Company Limited is the trustee, which holds the investors' assets and oversees the fund. Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company Limited is the asset management company (AMC) that makes the investment decisions. The AMC and trustee were both incorporated on 14 Nov 2008.

The fund was registered with SEBI on 29 Dec 2009. Its original sponsor was Motilal Oswal Securities Limited, which merged into Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited with effect from 21 Aug 2018, and the parent took over the sponsorship.

Schemes it runs

Its Nifty 50 ETF, now named Motilal Oswal Nifty 50 ETF, began on 28 Jul 2010. Much of its range is passive: index funds and ETFs on broad, mid cap, small cap, sector and factor indices, plus gold, silver and international funds. It also runs actively managed equity funds, a few hybrid and debt funds, and funds of funds, which invest in other funds rather than directly in shares. The page groups the live schemes under asset headings and names each fund's category under its name.

How returns and size are shown

Each scheme row shows its NAV, the price of one unit, with returns over 1, 3 and 5 years, its size and its cost. Returns are for the plan the scheme's own page leads with, Direct where one exists. Three and five year returns are a yearly compounded rate.

Assets managed is the average money in the house's funds over the latest quarter, summed across funds. Where one of the house's funds of funds holds units of another of its funds, that money is counted once.

Fund managers and new fund offers

The manager table lists each person who runs the house's funds, with the number of funds, the money in them and the start date. A fund with two managers counts in full for each, so manager totals add up to more than the house's assets. New fund offers are listed with their dates and minimum amount; closed offers show first NAV against latest.

Complaints and voting

Complaint figures are for the latest month: received, resolved, and still open on the month's last day, counting any carried over. It also shows meetings and resolutions on which the house's funds voted in the latest quarter, and how many votes were against or abstained. A resolution voted on by several of the house's funds is counted once.
