About the Nifty200 Value 30
Nifty200 Value 30 is an index of 30 companies from the Nifty 200, chosen on a value score built from earnings, book value and sales relative to price, and dividend yield. It is managed by NSE Indices Limited.
How companies are chosen
Stocks that are part of the Nifty 200 at the time of a review are eligible, if they have a minimum listing history of 1 month and are available for trading in the derivative segment (F&O) on the effective date.
For each eligible stock, a Z score is worked out for each of the four ratios: the stock's ratio, minus the mean of the eligible universe, divided by the universe's standard deviation. The ratios use the latest financial year's data, consolidated where available and standalone otherwise.
The four Z scores are averaged with a weight of 0.25 each. The value score is 1 plus the average Z score where that is above 0, and 1 divided by (1 minus the average Z score) where it is below 0. The top 30 stocks by value score are selected.
How it is weighted
A stock's weight is its free-float market cap multiplied by its value score. Each stock is capped at the lower of 5% or 5 times its weight based only on free-float market cap, and the cap is applied semi-annually at rebalancing. Free float counts only the shares normally expected to be available for trading, leaving out those reported under the promoter category.
When it is reviewed
The index is rebalanced and reconstituted every six months, in Jun and Dec, using data ending the last trading day of May and Nov.
A stock that has left the Nifty 200 leaves the index at the next review. A current member stays if its value score rank is within the top 45, and the top 15 ranked stocks not already in the index are included, replacing the members with the lowest value scores.
Base date and value
The index has a base date of 1 Apr 2005 and a base value of 1000. It was launched on 12 Jun 2024.
