About the Nifty Top 15 Equal Weight
The Nifty Top 15 Equal Weight is an index of the top 15 stocks in the Nifty 50 by 6-month average free-float market capitalization, which counts only floating stock, the shares normally expected to be available for trading. Each stock is equally weighted. It was developed by NSE Indices.
How companies are chosen
Only stocks in, or about to join, the Nifty 50 are eligible. The top 15 of them by 6-month average free-float market capitalization are selected.
A stock that leaves the Nifty 50 also leaves this index. A stock outside the index is added if its free-float market capitalization is at least 1.5 times that of the smallest index constituent.
How it is weighted
Each stock is equally weighted, reset quarterly from the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec. Weights drift between two rebalancings as stock prices move.
When it is reviewed
Membership is reconstituted twice a year, in Mar and Sep, on data for 6 months ending in Jan and Jul.
An additional, unscheduled reconstitution and rebalancing is started if a constituent undergoes a corporate action (such as a scheme of arrangement or delisting) or suspension by the exchange, or moves to the BZ series.
Base date and value
The index was launched on 15 Oct 2024.
