About the Nifty MNC
The Nifty MNC Index comprises 30 listed companies on the National Stock Exchange in which the foreign promoter shareholding is over 50%. The index is maintained by NSE Indices Limited.
How companies are chosen
Companies must form part of the Nifty 500 at the time of review.
A company needs foreign promoter shareholding over 50%, a trading frequency of at least 90% in the last six months and a listing history of at least 1 month on the cutoff date. The final 30 companies are chosen by free-float market capitalization.
How it is weighted
Each company is weighted by its free float market capitalization.
A company's weight is capped at 10% at each rebalancing and whenever the constituents or their investable weight factors change. Between rebalancing periods a weight may rise above 10%.
When it is reviewed
The index is rebalanced twice a year, with cut-off dates of 31 Jan and 31 Jul, using average data for the six months ending on the cut-off date. The market gets four weeks' notice of a change, and reconstitutions take effect in Mar and Sep.
Base date and value
The base date is 2 Jan 1995 and the base value is 1000 points. The index held at most 15 companies until 28 Sep 2018, when the maximum became 30.
