About the BSE Next 250 MICROCAP
The BSE Next 250 MICROCAP is a broad index of 250 companies, the companies in the BSE Next 500 that are not in the BSE 250 MicroCap. It is maintained by BSE Index Services Pvt. Ltd.
How companies are chosen
The universe is the BSE Next 500, which holds the companies of the BSE 1000 that are not in the BSE 500. Every company in the BSE Next 500 that is not in the BSE 250 MicroCap joins this index, so there is no ranking or cut-off of its own. Differential Voting Rights shares (DVRs) are eligible if the company's ordinary share class is in the universe and the DVRs pass the liquidity criteria.
How it is weighted
Members are weighted by float-adjusted market capitalization: market capitalization counted only on the shares available for trading, which each company's Investable Weight Factor defines. Changes to the shares outstanding of less than 5% are made quarterly, at the open of the Monday following the third Friday of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec.
When it is reviewed
The index is reconstituted twice a year. The reference date is the last trading day of Apr and Oct, and the changes take effect at the market open on the Monday following the third Friday of Jun and Dec. Between reviews, a company dropped after a corporate action is replaced by the most eligible non-member, to keep the count at 250. Companies added to the Graded Surveillance Measure list are dropped monthly.
Base date and value
The base date is 21 Sep 2015 and the base value is 1000. The index was launched on 10 Feb 2025.
