About stock splits in 2026

Stock splits in 2026 are the splits by NSE and BSE listed companies that go ex in the year, each cutting a share's face value, such as ₹10 to ₹1, and multiplying the share count in the same ratio. This page lists them by month with record date, ex-date, price and market cap.

What the list shows

A split is listed under the month of its ex-date, latest month first. Each row gives the company with its industry, the face value before and after, the record date, the ex-date, the price with the day's change and the market cap in crore. Kotak Mahindra Bank split from ₹5 to ₹1 in Jan 2026.

Face value in a split

Face value is the nominal value printed on a share. A split divides each share into several of lower face value. A change from ₹10 to ₹2 turns one share into five. The company's total value stays the same, so the price falls by about the same ratio on the ex-date.

Record date and ex-date

The record date is the day the company reads its shareholder register to see who receives the new shares. The ex-date is the first day the share trades without the right to the split. With next-day settlement, in force on NSE and BSE since 27 Jan 2023, the ex-date is normally the record date itself, so a share bought the trading day before still receives the split. A record date on a weekend or market holiday moves the ex-date to the trading day before, so a few rows show two dates.

Who approves a split

A company needs its articles of association to allow sub-division, and its shareholders approve the split at a general meeting or by postal ballot. SEBI's listing regulations then require the company to tell the exchanges the record date at least three working days ahead. The new shares are credited to demat accounts under a new ISIN, the share's identification code.

Split and bonus issue

A split lowers the face value and multiplies the shares. A bonus issue hands out free extra shares from reserves and leaves the face value unchanged. Bonus issues in 2026 are on their own page.
