Stocks under ₹300: shares below 300 rupees on NSE, BSE

A company is included when its latest exchange close is ₹300 or less. The list covers every sector and size.

The table opens with the largest companies by market cap, which is the share price multiplied by the number of shares. It can be narrowed by sector or size.

A share price is a company's value divided by its number of shares. A low price therefore says how many shares exist as much as it says how big the company is. A company with a very large number of shares can trade under ₹300 and still be worth lakhs of crores, while another with few shares can trade far above ₹300 and be small.

Market cap, not price, is the measure of size.

P/E is market cap divided by the profit of the last four quarters that belongs to the company's own shareholders. For companies that report half-yearly, the last two half-years are used.

ROCE is return on capital employed: operating profit after depreciation, leaving out other income and one-off items, divided by net worth plus borrowings. Net worth includes the minority owners' share of subsidiaries. Lease liabilities are left out because the filings do not state them.

The one-day and one-year changes are adjusted for splits and bonuses, and a demerged share is counted. Dividends are not added.

A split divides the price and multiplies the shares, so a company can move into or out of this list with no change in its value.

The list is rebuilt from the latest close, so a company appears or drops out as its price crosses ₹300.
