About stocks under ₹1

Stocks under ₹1 are listed Indian companies whose shares last closed at one rupee or less. This page lists every such company with its price, market cap, P/E, ROCE and returns, so the lowest-priced shares on the exchanges can be compared in one table.

What the screen finds

The screen picks every listed company whose latest exchange close is ₹1 or less. A company enters when its close falls to ₹1 and leaves when it closes above. The table opens sorted by market cap, high to low.

Price and company size

At these prices the share count, not the price, decides how large a company is. Market cap is the share price times the number of shares, the company's value at that day's price. A company with a very large share count can be worth hundreds of crores at under ₹1.

Face value and splits

Face value is the nominal value of a share. It is not a price floor, so a share can trade below it.

Splits and bonuses lower a price without changing the company's value, because the share count rises by the same factor. The 1D and 1Y columns are adjusted for them, so a split does not show as a fall.

Measures in the table

P/E is market cap divided by the last twelve months' profit attributable to the company's own shareholders. ROCE is operating profit after depreciation as a percentage of net worth plus borrowings, with lease liabilities left out. The 1D and 1Y columns are price change without dividends.

Limits of the screen

The filter looks only at the close. It applies no test on profit, debt or trading volume, and shares at these prices are often thinly traded, so a last close can rest on a few small trades. Loss-making companies show blank or negative ratios.
