About the Nifty Top 10 Equal Weight
The Nifty Top 10 Equal Weight is an index of the 10 stocks from the Nifty 50 with the highest 6-month average free-float market capitalization, each equally weighted. It was developed by NSE Indices.
How companies are chosen
Stocks in the Nifty 50, or about to join it, at the time of review are eligible. The top 10 of these by 6-month average free-float market capitalization are selected.
A stock that leaves the Nifty 50 also leaves this index. A non-member eligible stock is included if its free-float market capitalization is at least 1.5 times that of the smallest index constituent.
How it is weighted
Each stock is given the same weight, reset every quarter from the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec. Weights may drift between two rebalancing periods as stock prices move.
When it is reviewed
The members are reviewed semi-annually, in Mar and Sep along with the Nifty broad-based indices, using data for 6 months ending in Jan and Jul respectively.
Base date and value
The index launched on 24 Jun 2024.
