About the BSE Capital Markets & Insurance
BSE Capital Markets & Insurance is a BSE index of the companies in the BSE 500 that belong to the Capital Market and Insurance industry groups. Its rules cap it at 30 companies. It is maintained by BSE Index Services Pvt. Ltd.
How companies are chosen
Every company in the BSE 500 that is classified under the Capital Markets and Insurance industry is eligible, and all eligible stocks form the index. Companies are selected on free-float market capitalization, the market value of a company's available float, which its investable weight factor defines.
How it is weighted
Members are weighted by float-adjusted market capitalization, with no single stock above 10%.
The 10% cap is applied each quarter, at the open of the Monday after the third Friday of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec. Any addition or deletion triggers an ad-hoc rebalancing that reapplies the weight caps to every stock.
