About the BSE Financials Ex-Banks 30 Index
The BSE Financials Ex-Banks 30 Index measures the performance of 30 companies from the BSE 250 LargeMidCap Index classified as Financial Services, excluding public sector banks, private sector banks and other banks. It is maintained by BSE Index Services Private Limited.
How companies are chosen
At each rebalancing the index ranks the eligible stocks by average six-month daily float-adjusted market capitalization. The highest ranked 24 stocks are selected automatically. Existing constituents ranked 25 to 36 are then selected until the count of 30 is reached, and if it still falls short, the highest-ranked non-members are added.
If fewer than 30 stocks are eligible, all of them form the index. In the index's history before 2018 fewer than 30 stocks were eligible, so it held fewer than 30 companies.
How it is weighted
Constituents are weighted by float-adjusted market capitalization, with a single company capped at 15%. Excess weight is redistributed proportionally to uncapped constituents.
The float counted is a company's available float, which its investable weight factor (IWF) defines.
When it is reviewed
The index rebalances semi-annually, effective from the Monday after the third Friday of Jun and Dec. The reference date is after the close of the last trading day of Apr and Oct.
No stocks are added between rebalancings, so the count can fall below 30 if deletions are made. A constituent whose industry classification becomes ineligible is removed at the next rebalancing.
Base date and value
The index was launched on 16 Nov 2021, with values calculated from 15 Jun 2007.
