About the Nifty100 Liquid 15
Nifty100 Liquid 15 is an index of 15 stocks drawn from the 100 stocks of the Nifty 100, designed to provide exposure to liquid stocks while staying easily replicable and tradable. All 15 are available in the futures and options segment.
How companies are chosen
Constituents of the Nifty 100 that are available for trading in the Futures & Options segment are eligible for inclusion.
A stock needs a turnover ratio above 100% in the majority of the last 6 months at the time of review. The turnover ratio is monthly turnover multiplied by 12, divided by the average free float (the shares available for trading, which leaves out holdings such as the promoters') during the month.
A stock whose turnover ratio is below 100% in 3 out of 6 months becomes eligible for exclusion. A stock that still qualifies may be excluded if another qualifying stock has 1.5 times its free float market capitalization. At most 2 stocks are replaced in a review.
Stocks that pass are ranked by free-float market capitalisation and the top 15 are selected.
How it is weighted
The index is weighted by free float market capitalisation, and each constituent is capped at 15%.
The 15% cap is reapplied when a stock is replaced and each quarter, from the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec. Between those dates a weight may rise above 15% as prices move.
When it is reviewed
The review is semi-annual, based on data for six months ending Jan and Jul. The cut-off date is the last trading date of Jan and Jul, and four weeks' prior notice is given before a change.
Base date and value
The index launched on 8 Jul 2013. Its base date is 1 Jan 2009 and its base value is 1500.
