About the Nifty NBFC
Nifty NBFC tracks all the Non-Banking Financial Company stocks in the Nifty Total Market Index, 21 companies on 30 Sep 2026. It is maintained by NSE Indices Limited.
How companies are chosen
Companies in the Nifty Total Market Index at the time of review are eligible, and those in the industries listed as eligible for this index are included.
A stock not yet in the index and not traded in the futures and options segment is ineligible if it hit the upper or lower price circuit on 20% or more of trading days in the past 6 months. The rules set a minimum of 10 stocks, and a stock that leaves the Nifty Total Market Index leaves this index at its review.
How it is weighted
Each stock is weighted by free-float market capitalization and capped at 20%. Capping happens quarterly, on the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec, and weights can drift between those dates with prices.
When it is reviewed
The index is reconstituted semi-annually and rebalanced quarterly. The semi-annual review is each Mar and Sep, using data for the six months ended Jan and Jul.
Base date and value
The index has a base date of 1 Apr 2005 and a base value of 1000. It was launched on 15 Jun 2026. A total returns variant, the Nifty NBFC Total Returns Index, also exists.
