About the Nifty Telecommunications
Nifty Telecommunications tracks the performance of stocks from the Telecommunications sector within the Nifty Total Market index. It held 12 companies on 30 Sep 2026; its rules call for at least 10 stocks, drawing on the top 1000 stocks when the sector has fewer.
How companies are chosen
Stocks that are in the Nifty Total Market index at the time of review and belong to the basic industries of the Telecommunications sector are eligible, and every eligible stock is selected.
A stock not already in the index that does not trade in the futures and options segment is ineligible if it hit the upper or lower price band on 20% or more of the trading days in the past 6 months to the cut-off date.
How it is weighted
Each stock is weighted by its free-float market capitalization, and no stock may exceed 23%, with the top 3 stocks together capped at 62%. Capping is applied quarterly, at the time of rebalancing.
When it is reviewed
The index is reconstituted twice a year, in Mar and Sep, using the previous six months of data ended Jan and Jul, and rebalanced quarterly. It is also reconstituted between reviews if a constituent leaves the Nifty Total Market index or is suspended or delisted, or undergoes a scheme of arrangement.
Base date and value
The index has a base date of 1 Apr 2005 and a base value of 1000. It was launched on 15 Jun 2026.
