About the Nifty Housing Finance
The Nifty Housing Finance is an index of the housing finance stocks within the Nifty Total Market Index. It held 10 companies on 30 Sep 2026.
How companies are chosen
Companies in the Nifty Total Market Index at the time of review are eligible, and those from the eligible basic industries are included.
A company not available for trading in the Futures & Options segment is ineligible if, in the past 6 months to the cut-off date, it hit the upper or lower price circuit on at least 20% of trading days. A day that hits both circuits counts as two instances.
The index holds at least 10 stocks. If fewer than 10 eligible stocks exist in the Nifty Total Market, the deficit is filled from the stocks ranked within the top 1000 by both average daily turnover and average daily full market capitalization, then from the top 1100, top 1200 and so on if still short.
How it is weighted
Each stock is weighted by its free-float market capitalization, which counts only the floating stock, the shares available for trading in the market. No stock may exceed 20%.
The cap is applied on the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec, and weights drift with prices between those dates.
When it is reviewed
The index is reviewed and reconstituted twice a year, in Mar and Sep, using the six months of data ended Jan and Jul. It is rebalanced quarterly.
An extra review follows if a constituent leaves the Nifty Total Market or is suspended or delisted or undergoes a scheme of arrangement.
Base date and value
The index has a base date of 2 Apr 2018 and a base value of 1000. It launched on 15 Jun 2026, and a Total Returns variant exists.
