How companies are chosen
A stock is eligible if it is, or is going to be, part of the Nifty 500 Index at the time of review and belongs to one of the eligible basic industries. The largest 30 of these stocks are selected on their 6 month average free-float market capitalization. It held 11 companies on 30 Sep 2026.
How it is weighted
Each stock's weight is based on its free-float market capitalization, and stock weights are capped at 20%.

When it is reviewed
The index is reconstituted twice a year, effective from Mar and Sep, and rebalanced quarterly, when the cap is realigned effective from the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec.
Base date and value
The index has a base date of 1 Apr 2005 and a base value of 1,000. It was launched on 18 Jun 2024.
