About the Nifty Hospitals

The Nifty Hospitals is an index of all the hospital stocks within the Nifty Total Market Index, maintained by NSE Indices Limited. It held 11 companies on 30 Sep 2026.

How companies are chosen

The universe is the Nifty Total Market Index at the time of review. Every stock in the basic industries listed as eligible for this index is selected.

A stock that is not a member and has no futures and options contract is left out if, over the 6 months to the cut-off date, it hit its upper or lower price limit on at least 20% of trading days. The rules set a minimum of 10 stocks; if fewer qualify, the shortfall is filled from stocks ranked in the top 1000 by average daily turnover and full market capitalization.

How it is weighted

Each stock is weighted by its free-float market capitalization, and no stock may exceed 20%. The cap is applied on the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec, so weights drift with prices in between.

When it is reviewed

The index is reconstituted in Mar and Sep, using the previous six months of data ended Jan and Jul. It is rebalanced quarterly. An unscheduled reconstitution follows if a member leaves the Nifty Total Market Index, is suspended or delisted, or undergoes a scheme of arrangement.

Base date and value

The index has a base date of 31 Mar 2021 and a base value of 1000. It launched on 15 Jun 2026.
