About the Nifty India Corporate Group Index - Tata Group 25% Cap
The Nifty India Corporate Group Index - Tata Group 25% Cap holds 10 Tata group companies listed on NSE, weighted by free float market capitalisation with each company capped at 25%. It was developed by NSE Indices Limited.
How companies are chosen
A company must be listed on NSE, belong to the Tata group and rank within the top 800 by average full market capitalisation and average daily turnover over the last six months.
The final 10 are picked by free float market capitalisation. A company outside the index is added if its free float market capitalisation is at least 1.50 times that of the smallest constituent. A constituent that leaves the Nifty India Corporate Group Index - Tata Group Index is removed and replaced by the next higher ranked security.
How it is weighted
Weights follow free float market capitalisation. At the time of rebalancing no single stock may weigh more than 25% and the top 3 stocks together no more than 62%.
The capping factor is realigned when a security is replaced and every quarter, from the last trading day of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec. Between rebalancings a weight can rise above 25% with price movement.
When it is reviewed
Membership is reviewed on average data for the six months to Jan and Jul, with cut-off dates of 31 Jan and 31 Jul. A stock is excluded on suspension, delisting or a corporate event such as a scheme of arrangement.
Base date and value
The index launched on 16 Dec 2015, with a base date of 1 Apr 2005 and a base value of 1000. It has been calculated on free float market capitalisation since 1 Oct 2010 and on full market capitalisation before that.
