About the BSE Hospitals
The BSE Hospitals index measures the performance of all hospitals classified under the Healthcare industry. It is maintained by BSE Index Services Pvt. Ltd.
How companies are chosen
The index includes every company in the BSE 1000 that is categorised as ‘Hospital’ in the fourth level of industry classification, its basic industry.
How it is weighted
Constituents are weighted by float-adjusted market capitalisation, with a cap of 20% on any one stock. A company's investable weight factor defines its available float.
The caps are applied each quarter, effective at the open of the Monday following the third Friday of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec.
When it is reviewed
The index is rebalanced semiannually, in Jun and Dec. Investable weight factors are reviewed quarterly.
Base date and value
The index launched on 3 Oct 2025. Its values start on 19 Jun 2017, which is also its base date, with a base value of 1000.
