About mining stocks in India
Mining stocks in India are listed companies that dig minerals and metal ores out of the ground, or sell and process what comes out. This page lists every company the exchanges classify under Minerals & Mining, largest by market cap first, with price, P/E, ROCE and one-day and one-year share price change.
What the page lists
The only rule is the industry. A company appears if the exchanges classify it under Minerals & Mining, and there is no size, profit or price cut-off. Market cap, the share price times the number of shares, sets the order. Coal, zinc and copper producers sit in other industries.
How the columns are worked out
P/E is market cap divided by the profit of the last twelve months that belongs to the company's own shareholders. ROCE, return on capital employed, is operating profit after depreciation as a percentage of net worth plus borrowings, with lease liabilities left out. Price changes adjust for splits and bonuses and exclude dividends.
What limits the numbers
Mining profit follows the price of the commodity and the volume mined, so P/E and ROCE can swing between years. Each company carries one industry label, so a business spanning ore, power and steel sits in one industry here.
