About PSU stocks under ₹100
PSU stocks under ₹100 are listed government companies whose share closed at ₹100 or less. A PSU is a public sector undertaking, a company the central or state governments own and control. The page lists every company that passes both tests, sorted by market cap, largest first.
What counts as a PSU
"PSU", public sector undertaking, is the everyday word for a government company: state-run banks, insurers, power producers, railway and defence firms.
The page applies a 51% test to the latest shareholding filing, adding only the shares central and state governments hold directly. A subsidiary owned through another PSU, or a company where government holding has fallen below 51%, is left out.
The price rule
A company stays on the list while its last closing share price is ₹100 or less. A PSU with a low share price can be worth thousands of crores, which is why the table also shows market cap: the share price times the number of shares, the value of the whole company at that price.
Reading the holding columns
Govt is the combined government holding. Promoter is the holding of the promoter group, the owners who control the company. For a PSU the government is the promoter, so the two are often close. Govt promoter and Govt of promoters show how much of the promoter group's holding is the government's. Shares underlying depositary receipts traded abroad are included where the filing lists them.
P/E and its limits
P/E is market cap divided by the last twelve months' profit that belongs to the company's own shareholders. It shows as a dash where there is no profit to divide by. Banks and lenders carry a Lender tag, because their business is lending money rather than selling goods and their accounts read differently.
The list changes with prices and with government sales or purchases of shares. Listed companies must have at least 25% of their shares held by the public, so a PSU above 75% government holding must bring it down unless the central government exempts it.
