Exchange had sought clarification from JK Cement Limited with respect to a news item captioned "JK Cement, UltraTech bid for supplies to concrete road projects". The Company has clarified as follow: "1. We sell Cement in two segments. Trade i.e. through dealers' network. We also supply/sell directly to industrial consumers/government/semi-govt. etc. ('the non-trade consumers') which is called non-trade segment. 2. For certain supplies to non-trade consumers, we are to participate in tenders/bids floated by the non-trade consumers and the bids/tenders are awarded based on lowest competitive prices quoted by Cement Companies. 3. Participating in bids/tenders is a continuous process and factually mere submission of bid/tenders cannot be construed as getting/award of the order. We may succeed or not succeed. 4. Mere participating in any tender/bid, therefore, does not have any material financial impact on the Company. Therefore, the provisions of Clause 36 of the Listing Agreement does not attract here, according to our understanding. It is true that Roads and Highways had asked all cement companies to bid for the concrete road project. The last date for this was October 10, 2014. Accordingly we had put in our bid on the last date".22 Oct · Legal
