Dhanalakshmi Bank Ltd. has informed the Exchange that "At the Board meeting held today, (i.e. April 16, 2007), the Board of Directors have approved the issue of shares on rights basis and has authorized a Committee of Directors of the Board to decide the modalities of the proposed rights issue including but not limited to determining the quantum of the capital to be raised through the above rights issue, the share price, the proportion as nearly as circumstances admit to the paid up capital of the Bank, and the timing including record date of the issue."9 Apr · Board meeting

News Verification : The media had reports that The Dhanalakshmi Bank Ltd. is planning to privately place its equity shares as a part of its capital raising plans. Further, the bank is also planning for a follow-on-public issue. The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company. The Dhanalakshmi Bank Ltd. has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "We clarify that the fund raising plans mentioned in the media are only the various options being considered by the Bank to increase the capital in terms of RBI guidelines. We shall intimate the Stock Exchange as and when a final decision is taken on the matter."
