About high book value penny stocks

High book value penny stocks are companies whose share last closed at ₹10 or less and whose market cap is at or below the net worth on their latest balance sheet, a price to book ratio of 1 or less.

The two rules

A company is listed only when both tests pass. The share's latest close is ₹10 or less, and its price to book ratio (P/B) is 1 or less. The page sets no market cap floor, so very small companies appear too.

Book value and P/B

Book value, or net worth, is assets less everything the company owes, counting only the part that belongs to its own shareholders. P/B divides market cap, the share price times the number of shares, by that figure. A P/B of 1 or less means the whole company is priced at or below the net worth it reports.

What a ratio below 1 can mean

The ratio compares a market price with an accounting figure, and the two can differ for reasons the ratio does not show. Assets may be carried above what they would fetch, losses may be shrinking net worth, or the shares may trade so rarely that the close rests on few trades.

Why lenders look different

Loans and deposits are a lender's main business, so its balance sheet reads differently from a manufacturer's. Lenders carry a Lender tag on the page, and measures built on debt and operating profit, such as EV/EBITDA, do not suit them.

Reading the columns

Each row shows market cap, P/E, P/B, P/S, EV/EBITDA, PEG, dividend yield and earnings yield. P/E is market cap divided by profit over the last twelve months. P/S is market cap divided by sales, and earnings yield is profit as a percentage of market cap.

Because both tests use the latest close and the latest balance sheet, a company enters or leaves the list as its price moves or as new results are filed. Stocks under ₹1 and the wider penny stocks list have their own pages.
