About the Nifty Growth Sectors 15
Nifty Growth Sectors 15 is an index of 15 companies listed on the National Stock Exchange of India that have stock derivatives available. It is designed to give exposure to liquid stocks from sectors of market interest.
How companies are chosen
Sectors are chosen first. Each sector index's yearly average P/E (price to earnings) and P/B (price to book) are compared with the Nifty 50's, and a sector with the higher figure in 3 of the 4 observations over two years is shortlisted.
For the base composition, stocks with derivatives from the chosen sectors in the base period of Jul to Dec 2008 were ranked by free-float market capitalization and the top 50% carried forward. These were then ranked by EPS (earnings per share) growth frequency, a stock with negative EPS in the base review period was dropped, and the top 15 were selected.
How it is weighted
The index uses a periodic capped free-float method. Each constituent's weight is capped at 15%, and a stock's weight may rise above 15% between rebalancings.
When it is reviewed
Sectors are reviewed once in 2 years. Stock selection is reviewed semi-annually.
Base date and value
The index has a base date of 1 Jan 2009 and a base value of 1000. It was launched on 22 May 2014.
