About penny stocks with FII holding of 1% or more

Penny stocks with FII holding of 1% or more are listed Indian companies whose share last closed at ₹10 or less and in which foreign institutions hold at least 1% of the shares. This page lists each one, largest foreign holding first, beside its promoter, DII, mutual fund and public holdings.

What the screen finds

The screen applies two tests together: a closing price of ₹10 or less, and a foreign institutional holding of 1% or more at the latest shareholding filing. The list is sorted by foreign holding, highest first, and can be narrowed by sector or size.

Penny stock

Penny stock is an informal label. This page applies it to shares that last closed at ₹10 or less. A low price does not make a small company: a share at ₹5 issued in very large numbers can carry a large market cap, the price times the number of shares.

FII holding

FII stands for foreign institutional investor. On this page the FII column adds up foreign portfolio investors, foreign direct investment, sovereign wealth funds and overseas depositories, as a percentage of the company's shares. Where the filing counts shares underlying depositary receipts traded abroad, the percentage is of all shares including those.

Under SEBI's foreign portfolio investor rules, one investor together with its group must hold less than 10% of a company's paid-up equity, counted on a fully diluted basis. A stake that crosses that line must be sold down within five trading days, or the whole holding is treated as foreign direct investment.

How often the holdings change

Listed companies file a shareholding pattern with the exchanges every quarter, and the FII, DII, mutual fund, promoter and public columns come from the latest one. A holding changes only when a new filing arrives; the price test uses the latest close.

Reading the other columns

Pledged is the share of promoter holdings pledged as security for loans. Promoter change over 3 years is the difference in promoter holding in percentage points. Debt to equity is borrowings divided by the whole group's net worth, leases excluded.
