About Union Mutual Fund schemes
Union Mutual Fund is the mutual fund co-sponsored by Union Bank of India and Daiichi Life Group of Japan. Its schemes are run by Union Asset Management Company Private Limited and cover equity, hybrid, debt and solution oriented funds, a gold ETF and fund of funds.
Sponsors, trustee and AMC
A sponsor is the company that sets up a mutual fund as a trust. Union Bank of India and Daiichi Life Group, Inc. (named Dai-ichi Life Holdings until 1 Apr 2026) are the sponsors. Union Trustee Company Private Limited is the trustee, which holds investors' assets and oversees the fund, and Union Asset Management Company Private Limited is the asset management company (AMC) that makes the investment decisions.
The fund was constituted as a trust on 1 Dec 2010 and registered with SEBI on 23 Mar 2011. It began as Union KBC Mutual Fund, a venture with KBC Asset Management. On 20 Sep 2016 the boards approved the transfer of KBC's 49% stake in the AMC and trustee company to the bank, and SEBI registered it as Union Mutual Fund on 8 Nov 2016.
Daiichi Life's stake
Daiichi Life, a Japanese life insurance group, invested in the AMC on 17 May 2018 through compulsorily convertible preference shares, which become equity shares later. Converted, they make up 39.62% of the AMC's capital, the bank holding the rest, and the deal made Daiichi a co-sponsor.
Schemes it runs
Equity covers large, mid, small, large and midcap, multi and flexi cap funds, plus focused, value and ELSS tax saver funds and themes such as consumption, business cycle, innovation and momentum. Hybrid has balanced advantage, multi asset, aggressive hybrid, arbitrage and equity savings funds.
Debt schemes run from overnight, liquid and money market funds to corporate bond, short term, gilt and dynamic term funds. The house also offers retirement and children's solution oriented funds, a gold ETF with a gold fund of funds, and fund of funds that invest in other active funds.
How returns and size are shown
Each scheme row shows its NAV, the price of one unit. Returns over 1, 3 and 5 years are for the plan the scheme's own page leads with, Direct where the fund has one. The three and five year figures are compound yearly rates.
Assets managed is the average money in the house's funds over the latest quarter, summed across its funds. Money held in the house's own funds of funds is counted once.
Fund managers and complaints
