The index they track

How momentum is scored
Momentum here means how far a share has risen, adjusted for how much it swings. Each stock's 6-month and 12-month price returns are divided by its one-year volatility; each result is scored against the other eligible stocks, and the two scores are averaged with equal weight. Stocks outside futures and options trading are left out if, over the past 6 months, they hit a daily price limit a number of times equal to 20% or more of the trading days.
Weights and reviews
A stock's weight is its free float market capitalization (company size counted only on shares available for trading) multiplied by its momentum score, capped at the lower of 5% and five times its weight by free float alone. The index is rebalanced twice a year, using data to the last trading day of May and Nov. A current member stays while its rank is within the top 75, and the top 25 ranked outsiders join.
Funds on this page
This page lists the index funds that track this index, with a Direct plan and Regular plan view. Funds are ordered nearest the index first, then by lowest expense ratio. Each shows tracking difference, tracking error, expense ratio and fund size.
Tracking difference and tracking error
Tracking difference is the gap between the fund's and the index's return over the year, usually negative because of costs. The after fee figure adds the year's average expense ratio back. Tracking error is how much the fund's daily returns differed from the index's, as a yearly figure.
