About Taurus Mutual Fund schemes

Taurus Mutual Fund is the mutual fund sponsored by HB Portfolio Limited and run by Taurus Asset Management Company Limited. It was set up on 20 Aug 1993 and registered with SEBI on 21 Sep 1993 as MF/002/93. Its live schemes are equity funds and an index fund.

Sponsor, trustee and AMC

HB Portfolio Limited is the sponsor, the company that set the fund up and stands behind it. Taurus Investment Trust Company Limited is the trustee: it holds the schemes' assets for unit holders and oversees the asset management company (AMC). Taurus Asset Management Company Limited is the AMC that makes the investment decisions and manages the schemes.

The AMC was incorporated on 27 Jul 1993, and the sponsor holds almost all of its shares.

Schemes it runs

The page lists the live schemes under asset headings, with each fund's category under its name. They are mostly equity funds, in categories such as ELSS (a tax-saving equity fund with a three-year lock-in), flexi cap, large cap, mid cap and sectoral or thematic, plus one index fund that tracks the Nifty 50. The category links on the page lead to every fund in that category across fund houses.

Returns, cost and assets

Each scheme row shows its NAV, the price of one unit, and returns over 1, 3 and 5 years for the plan the scheme leads with, the Direct plan where one exists. The 3 and 5 year figures are a yearly compounded rate, not the total over the period. The cost column is the expense ratio, the yearly fee charged as a share of assets.

Assets managed is the average over the latest quarter, added across the house's funds. Money one Taurus fund holds in another is counted once.

Fund managers

The manager table names each person running the house's funds, how many funds they run now, the money in them using the latest month's assets, and the date they began. A fund with two managers counts in full for each, so the manager totals can add up to more than the house's assets.

Complaints and voting

For the latest month the page shows investor complaints received, resolved and still open on the last day of the month, as the fund house reports them. For the latest quarter it shows the company meetings and resolutions on which the house's funds voted, and how many votes were against or abstained. A resolution is counted once, however many of the house's funds voted on it.
