About Sundaram Mutual Fund schemes

Sundaram Mutual Fund is the mutual fund of Sundaram Finance Limited, set up in 1996. Its schemes are run by Sundaram Asset Management Company Limited and overseen by Sundaram Trustee Company Limited, and cover equity, hybrid, debt and index schemes.

Sponsor, trustee and AMC

Sundaram Finance Limited is the sponsor, the company that sets up the fund as a trust. Sundaram Trustee Company Limited is the trustee company, which holds investors' assets and oversees the fund, and Sundaram Asset Management Company Limited is the asset management company (AMC) that makes the investment decisions. Sundaram Finance holds all the share capital of both companies.

The trust deed is dated 24 Aug 1996, and SEBI registered the fund on 3 Jan 1997 under code MF/034/97/2. The AMC was incorporated on 26 Feb 1996. The trustee company was incorporated on 2 Dec 2003, when the earlier board of trustees was converted into a company under SEBI's mutual fund rules.

Schemes it runs

This page groups the house's live schemes under four headings: equity, hybrid, debt, and index funds, ETFs and funds of funds. They span equity funds of every market size, sectoral and thematic funds, ELSS tax savers, liquid and overnight funds and overseas funds of funds. Each category name on the page links to that category's own page.

How returns and size are shown

Each scheme row shows its NAV, the price of one unit. Returns over 1, 3 and 5 years are for the plan the scheme's own page leads with, which is the Direct plan where one exists. Three and five year returns are a compounded rate a year rather than a total. A dash means no figure is shown for that period.

Assets managed is the average money in the house's funds over the latest quarter, added across all its funds. Money that one of its funds of funds holds in another of its funds is counted once.

Fund managers

The manager table lists each person who runs the house's funds, with the number of funds now managed, the money in them and the earliest start date the house has filed for that person on any fund. A fund with two managers counts in full for each, so the manager totals add up to more than the house's assets.

Complaints and voting

For the latest month the page shows investor complaints received, resolved and still open on the last day of the month; open complaints include those carried over from earlier months. For voting, it shows the company meetings and resolutions on which the house's funds voted in the latest quarter, and how many resolutions were voted against or abstained. A resolution is counted once per meeting, however many of the house's funds voted on it.
